| NOVEMBER Freak me it's cold. Jakey boy is gonna
have to start padding his leather trousers at this rate. Big news for
this update this was the www.tourdates.co.uk launch party at Edwards in
Birmingham. It was a cracking night of rock with support from our stablemates
void and Kittens. Bands and punters alike had a free bar for most of the
night courtesy of Tourdates so cheers Decker! Also a change of date for the Brunsick gig. Previously advertised as the 9th of December were now at short notice playing Friday 25th November to celebrate the new late drinking rules. Hmmmm drinking to excess the night before driving to London…… As ever big cheers to everyone supporting. Keep checking the gig updates and if we've forgot to contact anyone that we said we would email us and kick our arses! We try but we just don't always get round to doing what we say we'll do after a bottle of JD or 3. Oh nearly forgot. I spotted a squirrel
with frost on his tail. It ain't gonna get better than that so end it
all now. OCTOBER Yeah, we rocked Nellies Field! Don't ask but apparently that's exactly where our gaffa booked us to play. It was cold and empty and far as I could tell Murdoc were the only band to turn up to the first annual charity Biker Bash. By Biker I don't remember seeing a bike apart from some of those little mini moto versions of Harleys. Still we drank beer and it was all for charity. Cheers to the organisers for putting the event on. Next year lads it will be a writhing mass of leather waistcoats. I also have some very vague recollection of playing a gig at the Pig in the City - Gloucester. I understand we may well have been 2 pissed to stand but still the set went ahead and I'm sure we must have been awesome. Girlies climb out of their bedroom windows to come and watch us ya know. Sticking with the theme of gigs we have landed some cracking slots at venues including Dublin Castle in London and the Cavern Club in Liverpool. Were planning on getting some coaches to these gigs with Dublin Castle being a deff!! Anyone interested in getting tickets to the Dublin castle gig either by coach or otherwise should contact us on murdocrocks@hotmail.com. Www.tourdates.co.uk
are holding some swanky rock fest of a launch party at Edwards in
Birmingham on Thursday 17th November with Murdoc Headlining the Gig. Make
sure you all check out our new band page on My Space following this link
: www.myspace.com/murdoc1.
The bass monkey and the drum monster are constantly monitering and updating
so if you have any questions, requests or just want to know whats goin
on, this is where you'll find it first. Add us to your friends list and
we'll keep you informed of the latest developments in the Murdoc world
domination plan, and maybe (just maybe) sort you out with invites and
guest lists. Be warned though, as I'm pretty sure Jake the Bass is using
it as portal to pleasures of the flesh.
August 2005 Someone out there please buy us a
new van! Whist our current hunk of junk looks awesome all sprayed up,
it remains an impossible task getting to London without breaking down.
Yep once again the Murdoc rockabillies were stuck on the side of the Motorway
in their attempts to hit the big smoke. We made it though and hell was
it worth it. The Ruskin Arms in London is pure rock filth class and we
love it. If you are a band reading this then get ur arses on that stage.
If you are a Murdoc loving badger then do not miss us there next time.
Cheers to everyone that made the journey worthwhile. Think we even found
a new roadie all though to be fair he’s not turned up 2 any of the
following gigs since the harsh soberness of morning!! On a serious level we are currently looking for a NEW Producer to work with 2 lay down the first Murdoc full album and it could be you. If you read this and you think that you can capture the live raw energy of a gig into a still polished product then we want to hear from you sharpish. We’ve all been writing pretty damn hard this last couple of months and some monster new songs should be in the live set by the end of the year. Personally there is one track in particular that makes me piss a little. Finally Murdoc have been featured on the cover of a new Music publication alongside the Kaiser Chiefs, released in September titled ‘FUSE’ magazine. The magazine contains a two page spread on our recent exploits along with photo’s and a review of our EP ‘Music for Girls to Kill Boys to’ and the video for ‘Digital Diaries’ Till next time
July 2005 Yeah
stop those rock tears cause Murdoc are back and things are about to get
VERY VERY LOUD. Weve been taking some time out over the last couple of
months to put some graft into new songs and a slightly new sound and fair
play its sounding sweeter than a pot of moist red cherries served from
wherever your mind takes you. Were gonna be lining up plenty more gigs
throughout the rest of this year with a full tour of the M5 kicking off
shortly so watch that gig page. Murdoc recently recorded a brand spanking
new track in the big smoke, which is currently being produced as I write
this, and with more time planned in the same studio later this year an
album could well be on its way.
May 2005 Ok plenty of cool stuff happening so I’ll get straight down to the oh so ever serious stuff. As most of you Murdoc fans out there will know, we filmed a video recently for our track Digital Diaries. The shoot went really well with half being filmed live at Gloucester Guildhall. It was a spankin gig so thanks loads for coming out in masses and jumping round like deranged badgers. Big special cheers to the girls kissing in the front row! The rest of the shoot was shot at various locations including the Brunswick bar and a certain K-dogs flat. Star of the video was none other than Tilly Suicide from the Suicide Girls and the final product looks awesome. The Video should be downloadable from the net soon but anyone that cant wait or want a copy to own forever on DVD can order from this very site. Drop us an email at murdocrocks@hotmail.com and we’ll get back to you with full ordering details. Speaking of the track Digital Diaries, the EP “Music for Girls to kill Boys to” from which this is taken is currently available in MVC for the price of a couple of pints so get in there and pick up a copy NOW!! Murdoc will also be recording their first “Official” Single in the next few weeks being produced by none other than John Ravenhall who has worked with the likes of Elton John and Sting. The single should be officially released if the plan comes together so expect us in the top ten damn soon! Apologies to anyone that missed us at the recent Exeter gig. We spent 5 hours in a traffic jam on the M5 so didn’t make it! Apparently our Rock Buddies Void did the job mighty fine though….cheers lads! More exciting than everything else
though is the fact that our van has had a paint job!! If you see the A-team
van out on the motorway….ITS US so beep that horn and throw the
metal sign out of the window.
April 2005 Jeeeeeeez time flys when ya drinking whiskey. Ok plenty of cool stuff happening so I’ll get straight down to the oh so ever serious stuff. Should have copies of the same available on-line at this very web page very soon so keep those eyes wide open. I can see from the guestbook that the CD is selling well in MVC…yep MVC. If you don’t have a copy yet, get your arse to the shop and spend that fiver cause it’s bloody rockin. Spread the world, we’ll sell a million and I can by a boat. We’ll have a party and you can all come and get drunk. Tidy. On the subject of the CD were gonna be recording again in the next month or so in London with John Ravenhall producing!!! John has worked with shed loads of acts including the Expoited and Sting. Oh, buy more t-shirts!! And don’t
forget to feed your sea monkeys!!!
January/February 2005 Yeah
I know, we’ve been a bunch of lazy feckers having not played a gig
for about a month. Blame Santa, blame the Sea Monkeys or blame Takeshi’s
Castle but we have been doing other stuff. First and foremost we’ve
been writing some awesome new material which should be heard in the live
set by march. Skinz has just got himself a rather tidy Murdoc tattoo and
for some obscure reason I’ve died my hair Ginger. On a more serious
note Murdoc are currently in talks with a very famous American record
label so cross them toes rock monkeys. A few tracks from our new EP have
also just received their first media review following airplay on kerrang.
You can check out the review by hitting the link to Radio Gloucestershire
on the links page or check out the new “Press” page on the
website. December 2004 Merry Christmas Murdocians. Fair play 2004 has been a year and a half and this is 100% down to you lot who have continued to support us at every stop. A massive thankyou to everyone that has been at the gigs, voted for us on Kerrang and bought our music. Next year looks set to be even bigger with the M5 Live Tour getting underway very soon. This has already got some big name backing from Tourdates and M-channel and rumours are that Fender could well be involved as well. A gig alongside the awesome Anti-Product takes place at the Guildhall in Gloucester in February so make sure you get your tickets in advance as this one should sell out very quick! Also look out for an awesome new merchandise section in the new year featuring the new 5 track EP Music for girls to kill boys to, a Raven Black DVD, Lighters and some rather tasty T-shirts. Finally Cheers to the Void lads and their ever growing troop for being the best band we had the pleasure of playing alongside during the M4 Tour. Have a good new year and we'll see you in 2005 LIVE.........Oh almost forgot, to everyone in Murdoc "sorry for pissing in the van"
November 2004 Having been voted "best unsigned band " by listeners of Kerrang Radio weve been running around like headless chickens doing various shows and press work. Alongside this were currently involved in a battle of the bands competition that's been taking place at the 2 pigs in Cheltenham. Were due to play the semi final on the 9th of december and need your vote to get us through to the final later in December. Those of you that remember the MTV Video shoot last year will be chuffed to know that the DVD has been completed and should be available before christmas along with a rather stunning looking Murdoc T-shirt. Were especially fond of the skinny fit female version as the Murdoc logo never looks better than when its stretched across the chest!! The M5 Live tour 2005 is all set to go and with some serious sponsers becoming involved (names to follow) 2005 looks set 2 be a hell of a year. Listen out for some New Murdoc madness and a live interview being broadcast on Kerrang Radio on the 12th December. So long Rock
Monkeys
October 2004 - Update! MURDOC WIN KERRANG COMPETITION! Thank you muchly 2 every last rockin one of ya!!! Murdoc have been crowned best unsigned band by Kerrang Radio and this is how we were picked. (Taken from
the Kerrang Website) Based on a point scoring system, we were then able to short-list the best 3 acts to enter in to the public arena (when ever I say arena Loz thinks of barbarians attacking each other with axes, to be honest I fear that one day he may attack me with an axe), the listeners where then asked to vote for the best band. Things got a bit messy with the point scoring, so we were left with no alternative than to put 4 acts forward for the public vote and what a tough competition it was, seriously, how many texts did we receive? SHED LOADS! The Desert Hearts, Tobias, Casino and Murdoc were all put forward and it was a very, very close call. Murdoc won, but only just, we had to recount the votes 3 times to make sure. Fair play
to Murdoc, there's obviously something very special about their music
and we can't wait to hear more of their work, come on guys, get to the
studio now, you're brilliant!
October 2004 Following a
hot n hard days work in the studio our new demo has been finished. Track
listing includes DIGITAL DIARIES, FAITHLESS plus a bonus track VOICES
(the TV edit). The CD is currently being mailed to industry contacts however
a retail version should be available very soon. Voices has already been
short listed by an American TV company as the intro music to a new series
and Digital Diaries has been picked up and played on KERRANG radio!!!
Needless to say we’re all very excited by the way the new material
has been received and with Kerrang featuring Digital Diaries on a compilation
promo CD it would appear we have their backing. BYE 4 NOW X
August 2004 WHAT A MONTH!!! Having made the jump and penned the contracts Murdoc have officially now signed to Raven Black Music Ltd. Were all stoked to be on board and have already found some drinking partners in the form of our label mates VOID. As a result of the above we have been hitting the road hard in the form of the M4 Tour 2004 which came to climax on Sat July 31st at the Infinity Club in London. Reviews of this show along with some pics of your fave Murdocians can be found by highlighting this event under the "gigs" section. Murdoc also found themselves in the Radio Gloucestershire studios earlier in July on the john Rockley show. Both Broken and Follow the Leader received the accoustic treatment and went out live. Other news on the horizon includes an open air performance at Rock the Docks in Gloucester early august and we will be back in the studio August 15th to lay down some more riffs. Cheers for coming 2 London……C u at the Docks!
June 2004 (Copy of Press Release) Murdoc Rock – Gloucester Rock Hopefuls Ink Publishing Deal… Raven Black Music are set to sign Gloucester riff toting wonder kids Murdoc. “We invited Murdoc to take the main support slot at a recent video shoot gig, at Gloucester Guild Hall, and were mightily impressed with what they delivered”: They have
the tunes !!! “We won’t be letting this go to their heads though”, said Dean G Hill of RBM, “there is a long hard road to tread before Murdoc’s talents are recognised by the world at large; so we will be taking them on the road on The M4 Tour 2004 II this summer and probably The M5 Live next year to see how audiences outside their native Gloucestershire respond to them. Like all the acts signed to RBM, they have the potential to go all the way, it’s just a question of getting noticed in the right quarters and making that buzz that only a loyal and growing fan base can provide. They have made
a great start with the way they interacted with the crowd at the Guildhall,
which some of the messages on www.murdoc.co.uk will attest to. If you
want to get involved in the growing live scene then check out all the
activities on WWW.TOURDATES.CO.UK
and make your voice heard.
April 2004 The new Murdoc recording
is now available. Titled “Lipstick Traces” the double A-side
features the new tracks Little secret and Faithless. Details on how to
order are listed under the Merchandise section of this site.
New Year 2004 First off, a massive thanks to everyone who has supported us in the last year. In just 12 months we have gone from forming the band to getting our music on the Radio 1 website, winning the Coleford Battle of the Bands and playing the main stage at most of the year's summers festivals such as Gloucester, Coleford and Ledfest. 2003 also saw the release of Murdoc's first EP, Quarter Mile Sprints, which has continued to sell and is still available through this site and at gigs. Tracks from the same EP have been played on Nerve FM radio. 2004 is now upon us and it promises to be another big year. Some top gigs are already lined up, including a return to Gloucester's very own Guildhall, and we hope you will continue to give us your support. Also, a new EP will be available soon! From all at Murdoc, HAPPY NEW YEAR.
